New President Day
I just watched the swearing in of Presidente Lula, Brazil's current president. Parallels can be drawn on a different area, yet similar to the election of President Obama. Luis Ignacio da Silva, Lula was the first Brazilian president elected by the people who represented "the people". Having come from humble origins, a labor party member rose to power. He had lost a few elections and then Voila! Brasil had a non-elitist leader-for better or worse, he has opened a new era.
Tomorrow, the future! Obama and Lula should hang out. There would be a lot to be gained reaching across the North and South Americas.

flesh will save the world!
uh oh, I'm only 3 postings
into my first little blogthingie
and I thought I'd stay away
from politics for a day
but shee-ite
am I ready to bite
the bait that feeds me
or should I say let's
place down all our bets
on a brave brand new world
so pretty to curl
the tips of your toes
'cause nobody knows
the world where it goes
as it spins around
humming a sweet sound
then we all fall asleep
and wake up
to find
that hundreds of freakin' billions of dollars add up to a pile of Oreos the size of a trip to Alpha Centauri which will save the world with its sweet bi-racial sugar...hey go out and buy Vivid stock, a porn site selling in the billions! flesh will save the world! flesh! flesh! flesh will save the world! flesh! flesh! flesh will save the world! flesh! flesh! flesh will save the world!

Wondering about the future
These days it's easy to get lost in all the info-tide and not get anything done. Peace of mind? Turn off the 'puter, skip checking e-mail, turn off the cell, the tv, the pager, Blackberry. Now sit down to meditate, practice on your instrument, or just do some tinkering in the tool shed. Worried yet? We rely on a steady stream of messages and information to make our next decision, run our lives, or just stay in touch. We find it hard to unplug for a moment. Nothing new here, or is there? You're saving energy, both electric and mental, to focus on something important, maybe just to breathe and BE, nothing more.
As for the future, can anyone say what is around the corner a year from now? In America, will the President be Angry White Man or Visionary Young Black? Will a terrorist attack bigger than all others happen? Will a man be able to bear children? Will there be a superstorm? Will we be able to afford Manhattan?
As for music, will it still matter? Will people consume it, go to shows, buy CDs? Will it all be in cyberspace?
So many questions. My main wish is that things improve in the world, freeing us up to truly manifest our true divine ability to flourish and prosper and win back a cleaner world for the next generation.
